Ather 450X Gets Cruise Control With Latest OTA Update: Here’s How Infinite Cruise Works

Ather Energy has rolled out its advanced Infinite Cruise feature for the Ather 450X electric scooter through a latest over-the-air (OTA) software update. Previously exclusive to the Ather 450 Apex, this smart cruise control system is now available for the 450X, bringing enhanced riding comfort tailored specifically for urban conditions.

Infinite Cruise Now Available on Ather 450X

The Infinite Cruise feature was first introduced on the Ather 450 Apex in August 2025. Following positive feedback, Ather has expanded the feature to the 450X lineup. According to the company, Infinite Cruise will now come as a standard feature on all newly manufactured Ather 450X scooters, while existing users will receive it via OTA updates.

Designed for Indian City Riding

Unlike traditional cruise control systems that are optimized for highways and high-speed cruising, Ather’s Infinite Cruise is engineered for Indian urban traffic conditions. The system is optimized for riding environments where speeds typically remain below 30 kmph, frequent braking is required, and road conditions can be unpredictable.

Ather claims the system helps reduce throttle fatigue and improves riding smoothness in stop-and-go traffic, making daily commutes more comfortable.

How Infinite Cruise Is Different From Traditional Cruise Control

One of the key highlights of Infinite Cruise is its persistent activation. Unlike conventional cruise control systems that disengage when the rider brakes or accelerates, Ather’s system automatically recalibrates to the new speed.

This means riders do not need to repeatedly turn the system on and off, making it especially useful in crowded city traffic.

Speed Range and Core Features

The Infinite Cruise system operates across a wide speed range of 10 kmph to 90 kmph and includes three intelligent riding modes:

  • CityCruise: Adjusts speed dynamically based on traffic flow for smooth urban riding.
  • Hill Control: Maintains steady speed on slopes and inclines using Ather’s Magic Braking Algorithm with regenerative braking.
  • Crawl Control: Offers better stability at very low speeds, ideal for rough roads or congested areas.

The system is further supported by Multimode Traction Control, which improves grip and stability on slippery or uneven surfaces.

Who Will Get the Update?

Ather Energy confirmed that approximately 44,000 Ather 450X owners will receive the Infinite Cruise feature through OTA updates. This applies to customers who purchased their scooters after January 1, 2025.

The company noted that backward compatibility was made possible due to strategic hardware and software planning during the development of the 2025 Ather 450 series.
