Indian Woman Impressed by Americans’ Early Dinner and Early Wake-Up Culture; Internet Reacts
New Delhi: An Indian content creator living in the United States has sparked an online conversation after sharing her experience with what she described as an early dinner, early bedtime and early morning routine among some of her American friends.
In a video shared on Instagram, Sarika Yadav said she was initially surprised by the daily schedules of people she met in the US. She said that while she was accustomed to having dinner around 8 pm, 9 pm or even 10 pm and going to bed around midnight, some of her friends followed a much earlier routine.
Dinner at 6 or 6:30 PM Came as a Surprise
According to Sarika, her American friends told her that they generally had dinner at around 6 or 6:30 pm.
She said she was even more surprised when they told her that they usually went to bed between 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm.
The creator said the routine was very different from her own schedule and initially left her surprised.
Waking Up at 4 or 4:30 AM
When Sarika asked her friends what time they usually started their day, she said they told her that they often woke up around 4 or 4:30 am, with 5 am being the latest in some cases.
She said this early-morning schedule was one aspect of life in the US that she particularly liked and that she was also trying to incorporate a similar routine into her own life.
Work Timings Also Influence the Routine
Sarika linked the early schedule to the working patterns she observed around her.
She pointed out that some shops and businesses open early in the morning, while people may exercise before going to work. She also said that finishing work around 4 or 5 pm can leave more time in the evening for personal activities and family.
However, these schedules can vary considerably depending on a person's job, location, lifestyle and individual preferences.
Why the Video Got People Talking
Sarika's comments quickly drew reactions online, with users debating whether early dinners and early mornings should be considered specifically an American or Western lifestyle.
Some commenters pointed out that similar routines have long existed in parts of India, particularly in rural communities and among families accustomed to starting their day early.
Others argued that sleeping and waking times are more closely connected to individual lifestyle and work schedules than to nationality.
Internet Reactions: Culture or Lifestyle?
Several users said that early rising is not a new concept in India. Some connected waking up around 4 or 4:30 am with traditional Indian practices, while others noted that many Indian families have historically followed early dinner and early bedtime routines.
Another section of commenters disagreed with the idea of treating the habit as an India-versus-America cultural difference. They argued that people in both countries follow different schedules depending on where they live and what kind of work they do.
Is Early Dinner and Early Wake-Up Better?
The video itself does not establish that one routine is universally better than another. Sleep requirements and daily schedules differ from person to person.
What the discussion highlights is how moving to another country can expose people to different approaches to work, meals, exercise and family time.
For Sarika, the early-morning routine was one such lifestyle difference that she found appealing and wanted to try for herself.
Bottom Line
The viral discussion is less about whether India or America has the “better” routine and more about how daily habits can vary across communities.
While some Americans may follow early dinner and early-morning schedules, many others do not. Similarly, early rising and early dinners are also familiar habits among many Indian families.
